Sony’s “Home” Raises Sony’s Ego »

Sony has been know, especially in the recent console wars against the Nintendo Wii and Microsoft’s Xbox 360, to be somewhat of a hound whenever it comes to their comments made on the other systems, or any competition in that matter. Why change now? Sony has recently announced Sony “Home” for their Playstation 3, where users can create their own 3D avatar and much more, does it have what it takes to stake their claims of it being better than already existent and dominant Xbox Live and Second Life?

Time Waster Rehash »

I ran across this Time Waster post from last year and it is still a time waster!

It is a great Flash game called Monkey Lander from Totebo Online Games. The object is to control you little monkey-piloted flying saucer, trying to capture all the bananas and other fruits and then gently land on this little platform. Oh, you also have to avoid obstacles while fighting gravity and inertia. It is a great little game and if you get past level 6, I want to hear about it!

Another Time Waster: Free Online Game »

Gamma Brothers is the latest way to waste your time. However, this one will give you a flash back!

Fire it up (free online interface OR download it to your computer) and you will be transported back in time to the late 80′s.online flash game The soothing pixelated graphics of the original 8-bit game, the relaxing, simple sounds, these features are duplicated in Gamma Brothers and will surely call to mind the countless hours spent in front of the little gray box with the two button controller.

Yes, I can still hear my mom, “Come take out the trash.” In a minute, mom, in a minute…

If you like this one, check out the other free online games we have run across. We update this list from time-to-time so check back often :) .

Malware Targets for 2007 »

The Internet is launching new technologies almost daily, it seems. This year, Web 2.0 really took off as a buzz word, along with Ajax (no, not the household cleaner), Ruby (no, not the precious gem) and others. VoIP kind of came into its own this year as the technology became easier to adopt and became cheaper (Skype was free for most of 2006).

Internet users became a little more savvy in 2006 as well. More people became aware of the need to use anti-virus software AND keep it updated. More people became aware of the need to keep their computers patched when a software vendor releases updates. Although they were more prevalent in 2006, Spam, spyware and adware are also being blocked like never before. That is great news overall. But we can’t let our guard down for 2007, especially with all the new technology available.

Here are a few favorite target areas for the bad guys. These areas are either current targets or will likely become bigger targets next year:

So, overall 2006 showed improvement in Internet user safety. Some of once successful malware attacks are not as fruitful as in years past. But with all the new technology popping up, the spammers, phishers and hackers are sure to find ways to exploit it for their own gains. They have made that their career choice and they do it because it works.

Nintendo Wii Strap Recall »

I guess Nintendo learned something about damage control from Sony’s Laptop battery fire hazard fiasco (remember the pictures of the grilled-to-perfection laptops?).

Nintendo, facing some bad PR photos of their own, has decided to recall more than 3 million Wiimote straps. The Video Game maker does not want to see anymore pictures of cracked up plasma TVs, so they are getting it fixed before stuff gets out of hand.

Nintendo has a form on their website for consumers to fill out to receive replacements.

Acting relatively quickly on this issue should also help preserve the Wii’s sales lead over the Sony PS3. Good job Nintendo.
