Nothing to do with spamming, just give it a descriptive text. Your SE will love you for that, no spamming at all. There is still more to go to finish your job; Use http://validator.w3.org/ to see. As far as the validation goes, we did not put the "alt" text on the background images since that is a tactic used by spammers when they are keyword stuffing. But we did miss the CONTENT attribute. So, that is fixed now - thanks for pointing that out! Try validating <a rel="nofollow" href="http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fgoogle.com%2F&charset=%28detect+automatically%29&doctype=Inline" rel="nofollow">Google</a> or <a rel="nofollow" href="http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fespn.com&charset=%28detect+automatically%29&doctype=Inline" rel="nofollow">ESPN</a>.
