Consumers Want Green Machines
In a recent poll by Ipsos MORI, people were surveyed in nine countries to see what they thought about the hazardous waste generated by “trashed” computers and accessories (monitors, for example).
Greenpeace published the findings in a post on their web site. It found that most people would pay more money for a PC that was environmentally friendly, some said they would pay up to $200 more.
Why do people replace computers? What factors do they consider when looking for a replacement? Most responded that they replaced their old PC because they needed more up-to-date equipment and more speed. This is understandable, especially with the PC requirements of Microsoft Vista.
We originally wrote a post on a program which offered a tax break for “recycling” your old PC instead of dumping it in the trash. What is your opinion?
