Did you purchase your software from an illegal software vendor? If you did so unknowingly, by the time you realized it, you surely felt probably ripped off. You spent your money and didn’t get warranties or even manuals to operate the program.

Software Information Industry AssociationThe good news is that the Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA) is offering money to buyers who feel ripped off by people who sold them illegal copies of popular software. This is in line with their new campaign initiative “Don’t Get Mad, Get Even”, encouraging those who have bought illegal software to blow the whistle on the seller and receive up to $500 toward purchasing replacement software.

The first 100 eligible buyers who report accidentally buying counterfeit software from an auction site could be eligible for the reward. Buyers must fill out an application between December 13, 2007 and 5 p.m., January 30, 2008 in order to get the reward.
