New Version of Gozi Trojan Circulating

Russian Trojan Gozi has a new variant that is circulating the Internet. This version is very difficult for anti-virus programs to detect because it scrambles itself.

This new version of Gozi is a keylogger that can even steal your data from encrypted SSLs (Secure Sockets Layer). Meaning, even if you enter your credit card information or other sensitive data on an encrypted web site, that data could be stolen if you are infected with Gozi.

Experts recommend that users follow these steps:

  1. Update your anti-virus definitions
  2. Reboot your PC in Safe Mode
  3. Run your anti-virus scan in Safe Mode

That is your best chance to remove any possible infections. However, this version of Gozi is very sophisticated and an infection could mean that you have to completely wipe out your computer’s hard drive and reinstall your programs - gulp.
