Washable Keyboard Available Now
In the quest for better hygiene, a US based company, Seal Shield, has created a washable keyboard. To them, its the very first washable keyboard. To the world, it could perhaps help prevent office flu virus and many other kinds of illness.
Harmful bacteria can survive as long as 24 hours on computer keyboards.

Perhaps with these keyboards around, the world could be a healthier place? The company also sells several other products that help fight against bacteria.
Maybe in the future, you might have washable laptops?

Keyboards have always been washable. If your keyboard really gets dirty, you can take it apart and clean it like that.
If you have a dirty ThinkPad keyboard, you can even put it in the dishwasher (not recommended by IBM, but it works).

Addition: only put the keyboard of your ThinkPad in the dishwasher, not the entire laptop!

Hi Jan - the beauty of this keyboard is that you can put the entire thing in the dishwasher or completely submerge it in water, electronics and all :).

Wow man , this is a neat thing , i once opened my keyboard for cleaning purpose and it took around 2 hours to put it back . And washable laptops does sound a good option .

Yes, washable laptop would be a very good choice. My laptop is, erm, very dirty.

The honest truth is that most keyboards will happily survive a run through the dishwasher as long as you make sure that they’re fully dry before using them again.
Having said that I’ve only ever tried it with my old keyboards, I wouldn’t stick my current wireless model (the first keyboard I’ve ever spent more than £10 on) in the dishwasher.
