For the most part, it is best to select a few colors to use, usually including the ones in your logo. Have you seen other web sites that you like?

If you see a web site that you really like, make a note of the address. A good web design company will look for this type of information from their client. They need to get a good idea of their client’s likes and dislikes so they can create the perfect web site.

Have you already selected a domain name?

Your domain name is what you publish on business cards and letterhead. It is the actual Internet address of your web site. A good web design company will offer a service called domain name registration. Charges for this service range anywhere from free to $50 per year. Make sure you check with your web design company and find out about this in the beginning so there is no confusion.

How many pages will you have on your web site?

Typically, all web sites will have a Home page and a contact us page. Aside from those pages, the sky is the limit. You will need to decide what information you want to feature to your visitors. Do you want visitors to know about the history of your business? They you will probably want to include an “About Us” page. Are you going to sell products through your web site? If so, you will probably want separate pages for each product category and probably one page for each of your products.

You web design company should review this with you when beginning your design. In many cases, the more pages a web site has, the more money it will cost. So, try to have at least some ideas of your own before you get started.
