If you can navigate through the code created by these languages then your designer can probably create the web site so that you can maintain it yourself. However, you should be aware that few companies will support sites wherein the client has changed the original code. Make sure you discuss this completely during the initial consultation with your designer.
If you are not comfortable working with those languages, a professional web design company should be able to setup a Content Management System (CMS). This will allow you to update your site without having to access the original code. In essence, updating a web site using a CMS is as easy as working with a Word Processor document. This is the best option if you do not want to learn any programming languages or you do not want to have to rely on your web design company to update your site because you can do it yourself.
Of course, the company you choose should be ready to assist you if you get stuck and they should be able to demonstrate their custom CMS to allow you to see how it will work. |
