A report by Cyveillance found that most malware found on the Internet comes from web sites hosted in the U.S.
Here is a link to their report as a PDF document.
The report states that visitors to web sites based in the U.S. run a higher risk of identity theft due to malware than do visitors to web sites based outside the U.S. More than 63 percent of the malware distributed is coming from web sites hosted right here in the US of A.
Back in April, we posted about Symantec stating that most computer attacks are coming from the U.S. and this appears to reinforce that notion.
Perhaps it is because US webmasters are somewhat lax in their security steps and this opens the door for hackers to attack them. I wonder, too, what percentage of web sites populating the Internet are based in the US to begin with. If its a high percentage, then naturally a hacker gets the most bang-for-the-buck by trying to inject malicious code into those sites. Cast your hook where the fish are, so to speak.
