Laptop manufactures Dell and Toshiba have expanded their recall of laptop batteries made by Sony. Friday, Dell announced that it will recall an additional 100,000 Sony-made laptop batteries. That brings the total number to 4.2 million recalled by Dell alone.
Toshiba increased its laptop battery recall to more than 800,000.
This has been a bad year for laptops and their batteries. Thursday, Lenovo recalled more than 500,000 Sony-made battery packs for several models of ThinkPad notebooks. Additionally, last month Apple issued a recall and exchange program for 1.8 million Sony notebook batteries.

Keep in mind, this latest recall could even affect replacemet batteries already shipped as recently as July 18, 2006. So, you better check if in doubt.
