Mozilla Firefox 3 Going for World Record
By Anthony | June 9, 2008
Mozilla wants to set a new world record for the highest number of downloads in one 24-hour period. If you visit their site, you can make your pledge to download when told and get… um… nothing - except a great web browser!

I visited Guinness World Records to try to find out the current record holder, but couldn’t find anything on record. If memory serves, I think it was the Netscape Browser when it was originally released and going head-to-head with Internet Explorer.
Anyway, I signed up with Mozilla and the numbers are quickly approaching a million.

Faststone Screen Capture is an absolute "can't do without" piece of software. Capture screenshots in a fixed window or with the scrolling window feature. It even has a screen color-picker that will tell you the code for any color that is displayed on your screen. Love it. Oh, its free too!

Just an update for those who didn’t know, they did it.
“…we now hold a Guinness World Record for the most software downloaded in 24 hours. From 18:16 UTC on June 17, 2008 to 18:16 UTC on June 18, 2008, 8,002,530 people downloaded Firefox 3 and are now enjoying a safer, smarter and better Web.”
Congrats, the more competition in the browser wars the better products we’ll see. And we definitely need it. =)

Nice article… but I bet that Google’s Chrome browser will really beat out Firefox 3. Most of the Firefox people I know (I’m IE) don’t like version 3.
