MySpace Working on Software for Parents

MySpace has been under some scrutiny lately for its lack of built-in parental monitoring capabilities.

Partly in response to that scrutiny, MySpace has announced the creation of software code-named Zephyr. Parents will be able to install it on a home computer and peek in on any MySpace user who logs on from that computer. It will list his or her profile name, age, and location. Additionally, Zephyr will track any updates that are made to those profile items.

Parents will not have access to the actual content of a profile in question and MySpace members that are being monitored in this fashion will be notified that they should be on their best behavior.

While there are already third-party programs to assist parents in keeping track of their child’s MySpcae activities, Zephyr is the first of its kind developed by MySpace.
