After much anticipation and excitement, Mozilla Firefox 2.0 is finally available as a final release version. We have been using the RC versions and have been very pleased.
Mozilla Firefox 2.0 offers some great new features designed to keep you safer on the Internet. For example, to help protect you from identity theft, Firefox 2.0 offers Phishing Protection. If you surf to a web site that is suspected of being forged (aka a “phishing” site) Mozilla Firefox 2.0 will flash a big warning that you can’t miss. Then, it offers to take you to a search page that will help you find the real address of the site you were after. Pretty slick! We have written some articles on other ways to protect your identity online: Tips for creating good passwords and email safety tips.
Firefox 2.0 also offers a pretty handy feature: Spell check. That is a nice way to keep you from committing spelling errors in online forms, forums or blogs.
And, of course, you can personalize your Firefox 2.0 browser. Since it is open-source, programmers have created tons of cool add-ons and plugins. You are sure to find one (or several) that you really like.
