How would you like to do that? Well, that is what the Simpson’s Movie did this past weekend. Granted, I am sure A LOT more than that was spent on creating the movie. But, the Simpson’s Movie had the 5th best movie opening this year.
As Li points out in her Search Marketing Gurus post today, the producers say their viral-marketing campaign was a major contributor to the movie’s success. My favorite facet of their marketing campaign is the Simpsonize Me web site, where you can re-create yourself as a Simpsons character. That is a riot.
So, why am I posting about this on the blog? It further establishes the Internet as the #1 marketing tool today. Where else could one expect to generate as much “buzz” about their product? Newspapers? Magazines? TV? Nope. Nothing gets the results of a well orchestrated marketing campaign centered around the Internet.
