Nintendo Revolution Gets a Name

As some of you may have already noticed this is somewhat old news, but new to most of you. The Nintendo Codename: Revolution was givin a final name. “Nintendo Wii” The idea for the name comes from “we”. They are hoping with this name that it will help the Wii reach everyone instead of just a target audience. Nintendo wants the Wii to be a game console for everyone in the world of all ages. Revolution was the direction Nintendo was headed. Whereas Wii is the answer.

Here in the U.S. there is alot of talk about the new name. Alot of people think it can be misinterpreted, or is not as unique as Nintendo thinks it is. In an interview with IGN, Nintendo told IGN that their idea is to go for a unique name that can be known and understood by all languages, something along the lines of “Google” or “Virgin Airlines”. But even with that all been said, people still do not truly understand the meaning. The world Google is a truly unique name, and Virgin Airlines is dirrived from the “Virgin Islands”. The Nintendo name has always been known for family entertainment as where most of nintendo’s games are designed to entertain all ages.
