Are You Kiddin' Me?, dell laptop, General, Technology
February 24, 2007
You may remember the report last summer about the pickup truck that was burned to a crisp courtesy of an exploding Dell laptop. The pickup truck owner was Thomas Forqueran. The pickup truck, a Ford F-250 affectionately named Jenny, was purchased new in 1966 by Forqueran’s grandfather. The cause of the fire was a Dell Inspiron 1300/B130. Also destroyed in the fire, Forqueran’s cell phone.
Of course, accidents happen. Batteries overheat and explode. However, the problem is that Dell has not paid for this guy’s truck yet! I would not think Dell could afford anymore bad PR but apparently, they have some room to spare. Good grief, your faulty equipment destroyed an entire vehicle! You just received hundreds of millions of dollars in alleged kickbacks from Intel. Pay the man! All he wants is for you to “Fix Grandpa’s Truck”.
Forqueran cannot find an attorney willing to take the case so he is taking matters into his own hands. See, before Dell “Pimped his truck”, he used to enter it in vintage car shows. Well, he is still going to take it to these shows but now, he will be bringing Jenny on a flatbed trailer with a big sign that properly “thanks” Dell for customizing his truck. Nice. I love it.
