OpenOffice, the free version of Microsoft Office, has released an update which plugs some security holes. The flaws were discovered during an internal security audit and the company does not believe that anyone has exploited them as of yet.
Users of OpenOffice are strongly advised to download the latest version. Click here to do so.
In case you don’t know, OpenOffice is a free suite of programs that mimics Microsoft Office in functionality. It has a word processor, a spreadsheet program, a database program and even a slideshow presentation program. We use this suite of programs (mainly because we are too cheap to fork out the $200-$400 for the Microsoft product) and really like it. It allows you to create PDF documents, convert .doc and .xls files and it does this for FREE 8O.
We have noticed a few hiccups in the translation between Microsoft and OpenOffice. So, you will have to check the documents for accuracy. However, what do you expect for free.
